There's a tale that the mother squirrels of Oakdrey tell their young at night to warn them against going out during the darkened time. A tale of three young squirrels, two brothers and their sister, who decided to go out into the night, and who were then attacked by a ferocious cat. That morning the two brothers were found, dead, while the sister was missing. It was a warning, a chilling reminder of the dangers of the night.

Buttercup was rightly named. His mistress was an avid fan of Hunger Games, and dubbed him that name when he first hissed at her. He had been a young cat when, out on a night hunt, he had stumbled upon three young squirrels. Delighted at the easy catch, he attacked them. The two males had put up a valiant fight before dieing, but it was the female who was the one who'd wounded him. And just as he was about to kill her as well, she was swept away in a whirl of black feathers. Now almost six months later, his left eye useless and his ears in tatters, Buttercup has found a way out of the life of an indoor cat. He has gathered his friends, cats who don't have the same cruel streak he does, but who are willing to follow their hunting instinct to find and deal with those squirrels.

And beware any squirrels that get in his way. Because he aims to drive them out.

You may make crows. They live at Crowtree, a five minutes flight from Oakdrey.
