RANCH IMPROVEMENTS - post here

mmm...from what i've seen the majority of Ranchers have not invested in animals, as the costs (both purchase and upkeep) are a little high and there's no real return on the ZC investment - perhaps there could be a ZC bang for winning shows/races, clicking other people's pets via Petting Zoo, etc? also, despite daily visits, care, and feeding (and some truly amazing stats piling up), my animals are always hungry** - even immediately after being fed - and unhappy, though they are "very excited to see me"...i tucked mini linked images in my siggy to see if additional clicks/attention will please them, but thus far no results.
(** EDIT - it seems they need at least 2 portions of food per day to be "content"...perhaps food servings could be adjusted so that one quantity is adequate?)
some kind of explanatory guide would be ENORMOUSLY useful, i've been shooting from the hip and am sure there are things i'm not grasping. for instance, what is the point of apples? what do they do? (and why should anyone buy them - what are they good for?) and if we're going to have crops, maybe some alternatives, like corn, soybeans, hay, and wheat - which you could maybe feed to your own livestock - tomatoes, potatoes, and so on?

The ranch feature is the one part of the site I havent really played around with yet, mostly due to me having not enough money xD But when I get enough money I'll try out everything!
I dont know if these ideas have already been suggested or if they are already beeing implemented in the site but Id just like to post them here anyways x)
I think a universal inventory system, not just for the ranch, would be something really neat and useful. You could store not only ranch items but maybe your mining items, HA clothing, treasure chests and keys, and maybe plushies too? And then you could sell them, trade them, repair them, or throw them away them all from one place.
Trading items or pets with other members would be a good idea. And maybe like.. a way to have your own little "shop" to sell your crops or animals to other members would be an easy way to make some profit from your ranch and help others who want specific items but have trouble making them themselves.
I would love love love a cooking feature. Where you could cook different foods from the crops you grow. You could buy recipes or try to make up your own recipes just from trial and error. There could be a little history list which shows all the recipes you've tried, the recipes you have that work, and the recipes that failed. There could also be a shop that sells supplies for more advanced/special recipes that require them.
And then out of sheep's wool and maybe different berries that create dyes you could craft special/rare clothes for your HA that could only be made with the ranch feature. And maybe clothes to dress up your pets too, since there are only three different pets it wouldnt be too hard for artists to draw simple accessories for them
I think little crafting stuff like this in which you could sell items for profit or feed pets from crops or dress your HA with crafted items would really increase the number of people who would play with the ranch It has a lot of potential and I'm super excited to see how it grows!

This is the idea I put in as one of my ideas for the Creative Committee ^^ I just changed and added some stuff
+ Have your actual adoptables be added as ranch pets, but they must be classified as "Ranch Animals" or whatever.
Once added, say a horse, you could like train it for races and stuff, and it's stats will increase. (Dunno which stats, but maybe like speed, stamina, etc) Different races will need different stats.
For dogs there could be like intelligence, for like herding sheep
For other animals, I dunno. I just thought of these on the spot xD

mmm...not exactly a suggestion per se, but my female border collie isn't showing up for some reason. i peeked at the pasture out of curiosity and when i went back to train her only the male was showing...
just took a quick look - emma had a blonde BC also, and hers is missing as well.

(other notes, while i'm thinking about it...) trophies show up on user profile, but not the pet who earned it...and if you have more than one pet per species, it takes a lot of back-and-forthing to interact with them all...unless i'm missing something (entirely possible). if there is a way to only show pet-bearing profiles for the Petting Zoo feature, it would be a lot less discouraging and perhaps encourage more to use it - also maybe a "who clicked your pets" pullup to motivate returns?

Yeah, the minifier would mess it up. Your image url is http://fotos.fotofle...455cbf.jpg.��It needs to be www.petadoptables.com/ri/160.png for your black collie for example.
