The Birman Cat, being quickly noticed due to its fluffy and regal pelt, is also known as the Sacred Cat of Burma. A female and male Birman Cat were both shipped as a pair from Burma to France. Unfortunately, the male Birman Cat passed away on the trip; however, the female Birman was already pregnant at this time. The Birman breed went under many hardships until it was recognized by the United States CFA as an official cat breed in 1967. To this day, the Birman Cat is known for its temperament and attractive appearance to cat lovers everywhere.

The Birman Cat, being a very loyal breed of cat, is a very social animal. They love to be with their owners and can even adjust to their schedule in order to spend more time with them. They are also very intelligent, and can learn to use their litter box at a very early stage in their life.
