When the kingdom was thrown into the clouds by a cataclysm the lions were their most trusted guardians and their only means of reaching the earth again. Since they only fly at night they have never been seen by those ground-dwellers. They are gigantic members of the lion family with thick fur and mane and large feathered wings (the same color as the mane) enabling them to fly. They are blue in color, ranging from sky blue to blue grey. Their manes are silvery-white. This enables them to blend in the skies of the far north. They are nocturnal and have eyes like a cat - they are usually a golden color or amber.
