Animal Facts
Because of their tiny size, the Chihuahua is often classified as a
"toy" dog (which is a much classier name than "midget" dog). This
dog's large round eyes are set far apart and are a dark ruby color;
with white dogs of this breed, the eyes may be a bit lighter.
The Chihuahua dog is said to be the oldest breed that lives in the
North American continent, and happens to be the smallest dog in the
world. Their native home is Mexico, and this breed happened to recieve
its name from the state of Chihuahua. They tend to be great dogs to
live in apartments, but most prefer warm weather over the cold. Though
it wouldn't seem like it, this breed needs space like any dog -- just
because their small it doesn't mean that they can be kept within a
small area!
Often called the bat dog for their rather too-large ears, the
Chihuahua happens to be a lively, adventurous, and courageous
companion dog, among many other traits. However, without the proper
training from their human counterparts, this cute little fluffy friend
can be rather strong-willed. It seems as though when there are
strangers around, the Chihuahua dog starts to follow their owners,
usually keeping as close as possible, which in turn makes it a
somewhat fun-sized guard doggy.
