The origin of the Shiba Inu rests within the ancient country of Japan. The Shiba Inu was especially bred to hunt in harsh mountain areas and easily maneuver through the rough terrain. To correspond with the climate that this breed was originally meant to live in, the Shiba Inu has a thick, double-layered, coat. Its beautiful fur comes in a variety of colors such as red, black, and tan. While a Shiba Inu can display the characteristics of a well-worn mountaineer within its wilder aspects, it can also prove to be an affectionate, domestic pet. At certain occasions, Shiba Inus have been known to portray the surprising characteristic of washing their faces with their paws, similar to the cleaning method of the typical cat. The Shiba Inu continues to flourish in popularity, especially when considering its most distinguished traits: devotion and dedicated companionship.
