Whoever invented the 'It's bad luck if a black cat cross your path' superstition obviously wasn't an owner of a Bombay cat. These black furred felines were originally bred in hopes to create an all black cat with brilliant copper eyes. After a few unsuccessful tries, this 'unlucky' breed was created! Bombay cats are always completely black, with stunning eyes ranging from gold to copper. Their eyes and ears are wide set on their round head, giving them a somewhat innocent appearance. These cats weigh in at a mere 6-11 pounds, males being the heavier of the genders. Being low maintenance felines, these cats don't need much grooming, as they can groom themselves. Although a quick rub with a grooming glove every once in a while never hurt! These family-friendly cats certainly have an odd taste in company, preferring to live in a house with dogs instead of other cats. They have a playful personality by nature, but can calm down to get warm and snuggle. This intelligent breed can also be taught tricks, along with being able to be leash trained. All in all, these cats are far from bad luck! |
